Due Date:  March 17, 2017

Overview: Write a literary analysis that compares and contrasts how rhetorical and literary devices are used to describe social issues in both Sandra Cisnero's novel "The House on Mango Street" and Maya Angelou's "Still I Rise".

Skills Tested On: Students were tested on their ability to be able to write a literary analysis and how well they were able to follow the rubric given.

Reflection:

Glow:

- Great structure and evidence identification and staying on topic to support your thesis

-Introduction is complete with all necessary elements
-You took a risk of analyzing more than 3 types of literary devices in your essay and you were able to organize it well

Grow:

-You need to add context to your evidence so the reader is aware, don't assume the reader knows who you are talking about especially with your use of Pronouns "they" "them" "she" etc.

-Your evidence is not explained clearly and can be vague. Try not to use as many pronouns. Use them right after you refer to the subject in order for the reader to know who you are referring to, for example, use Cisneros and then in the next line use she. Using too many she's can confuse the reader since there are 3 possible "she": Cisneros, Esperaanza, and Angelou
